How we work

SK Diesel understands that each customer has a unique diesel need, that is why we offer the following services to our Fleet, Performance, and General Maintenance customers:

We offer full engine service capabilities, as well as extensive transmission and electrical diagnostics knowledge to our Cummins, Duramax and Powerstroke engine owners. We carry the proper equipment needed for accurate diagnostics of modern diesel trucks.

Our long time customers have been around to know the SK difference, but our new customers often ask the question

Why is SK any different?

What is flat sanding?

You hear the term, you might have an idea of what it is. Normally you can visibly see the machining marks on surfaces of an OEM pump from a 68rfe. Look cool? No! Absolutely not. You can easily catch fingernails with how deep OEM machining can be. These deep marks on both halves of the pump, with a steel separator plate in between the two, and no gaskets, what do you think will happen? LEAKS! Pressure leaks, pressure regulating problems, erratic transmission behavior, leakage from the torque convertor circuits, etc. All valuable areas that you need SEALED!

Why do we flat sand?

This is where you precision grind a surface smooth, and flat! What benefits from this? Sealing, fixing warpage, less chance of cross leaking between different circuits, etc. This is something that doesn’t just pertain to pumps, but valve body’s too, and really any other surface that should be flat.

We go the extra step to ensure these parts aren't failure points in the future, saving customers time and money.

What is hotflushing© during a transmission install, and why is it important?

So you are paying your hard earned money, just to install it in a truck with dirty lines and a filthy, contaminated cooler? Will it work? The short answer, yes. But will it work well, and can you trust it, absolutely not!

Every transmission that gets removed from a truck gets its lines and cooler hot flushed©. Many don’t realize how much metal and contaminants find there way here. If you have a torque converter problem, it will all end up here! This consists of hooking up a machine to the cooler lines that will backflow 190 degree fresh transmission fluid through the cooler, reversing the flow rapidly every 3 seconds.

This is ran through a series of times cycles, all while filtering down to 10 microns. Ensuring you have a clean transmission cooler means we can be confident that you are actually able to cool your transmission, as well as not have any restrictions. Restriction in a cooler can be detrimental.

Torque converter issues, overheating, low line pressure, are all some of the issues cause by a clogged cooler. With our process, not only do we ensure your system is clean, but we also save you money by not having to install a new cooler!

If we see something we say something. Rear main seal? YES! With every transmission install we do we check this, ANY wetness or dampness, we replace! If its dry, we leave it be!

Electrical Diagnostics

We get calls constantly from customers telling us their local dealership said ‘XYZ’ about their truck. Just because you have the equipment, doesn’t mean you have the qualifications to use it. SK Diesel keeps its techs up to date with the latest training, and best of the best diagnostic equipment. We train on how to properly diagnosing modern trucks in areas such as: communication circuits, resistance levels, fiber optics, just to name a few. We even stay up to date on lab scoping, an advanced electrical diagnostic method for checking engine health and mechanical integrity.

We have the latest scan tools for every brand. Over a dozen types of the highest diagnostic tools. We don’t guess, we prove the problem then fix it.

During the process we know and see first hand the negative side of non-high quality parts. We stock and install nothing but genuine manufacturer parts. Aftermarket parts from the box stores lead to future problems and skewed readings.
